Dazzling statistics! Finally - my 100th pos, but you may have noticed, I haven't been around much. I've been distracted, and when I reached for the handy dandy calculator I see why. I have cut...
180 yards of gorgeous fabric kits for my Apron in an Hour class
3200 x 4 in squares for my no sew fabric flowers class kits (and I am yet to start on the 200 yds of Heat n Bond for that one!) Here are some squares ready to form beautiful flowers.
And here are some boxes of Apron fabrics in the garage.
There has been a lot of other preparations too for the Stitches and Craft Show here in Brisbane next week. Yep, its next week!!! Yikes....
The really bizarro thing from all that fabric cutting (besides my calloused pointer finger from rotary cutting) is this. My stash still looks quite complete:
There is hardly a dent been made to this collection of lovelies. I really don't know where the 180 extra yards (not to mention the yardage for 3200 itty bitty squares) ever fit?! I have a theory. Aussies - remember the Tim Tam and the Genie ad. The one where they got 3 wishes and all they wanted was a neverending pack of Tim Tams? Maybe mine is the neverending fabric stash? My genie is filling it all up as soon as I deplete some yards! Imagine that!
Anyway - I have really enjoyed mixing and matching fabrics for the Apron workshop. If you are in or near Brisbane - this is going to be a great workshop! Lots of pretty combos to select from and a fun time will be had - guaranteed!
In addition to playing with fabric, it has been an active and fun packed school holiday here.
A class presentation from 3G to end Term 1. All presented by the boys. It is lovely to see 20 x 7 or 8 year olds able to confidently stand up and talk, sing, recite and act for a room full of people.
A poem...
Some finger puppets
Some maths
Some singing and dancing in Charlotte's Web masks
Papparazzi Darc
Darc had an Easter day at school. Easter bonnets all round. But my attention was drawn to this art installation... Harriet and Darc appear to have 3 and Aly's have flowers on them?! Strange art classes at St A's...
Of course, some poker. Darc hasn't played for a few weeks. Gets dealt her first hand and hangs on to all cards. We all, in soothing yet encouraging voices ask "Are you sure?" Steely faced she replied - her disdain evident. She bet high. We're thinking it isn't going to end well. And it didn't - for the others. Full house! She's already learnt one of life's great lessons. Darc knows when to hold em!
We had visitors from afar. Carl and Barb. Barb lived with us for a few months as our au pair back in 2005. She was backpacking around Australia allt he way from Germany. Met Carl in Exmouth Western Australia diving on Ningaloo Reef and has just migrated here. Ain't love grand? And what is with Jack's halo in this photo?
She gave the kid's a lovely 300 piece jigsaw of Australia. See Barb - they did it the very next day. Darcy loved it!
We had an outing for icecreams. In tiara and barbie heels of course.
Darcy went horseriding at Harriets. She had a blast! Horseriding is one of those activities we were told by Darcy's Spinal Orthopedic Surgeon that she couldn't do. Well just watch us Dr Rob!!!
Gotta give the horsey a nice pat to say thanks after the ride! Jo was wonderful with Darcy. She was only apprehensive for about 1 minute then she was fine! Keeps asking when she can ride again.
We went to the Gallery of Modern Art. Jack thought it as dull as dishwater. Darcy loved the kid's activities.
It is a chinese art exhibition and the Chinese astrology is explained. The kids can draw and write about themselves (and birdies and easterbunnies too it appears!)then place their creation into the exhibit under their sign. I like how Darcy's pics at the moment have one hand waving and the otehr on her hips - kinda cool.
We had Alana up from Sydney with Luke and Lachlan for a week which was great. I took the 2 x big boys skating. I took my blades and had a ball! My skate style reminded me of that skiing bumper sticker - "No falls No Balls". Mine were noticably absent as I tried not a trick but did manage to stay upright.
The great Scrabble and Yahtzee challenge. Alana and I played and you might notice the 69 word score word on the bottom. That was mine. Darryl suggested it isn't even a word. It was good enough for my house rules though!
Yet another kiddy birthday party. Jack's besty Edwin. Look - matching enormous front teeth! One day the rest of their heads will grow into those monsters. 10 pin bowling party this time. I played with some of the Dad's too - a great arvo of fun!
And some arcade games too. Deal or No Deal was the fave.
A giveaway is on soon. My patterns arrive back from the printer this week - yahoo!
